Baien or Kaze no Mori? Shared Bathhouse or a Private Bath in Every Room
Compare Baien’s public and family baths with Kaze no Mori’s indoor and outdoor private spring baths in all ten detached rooms.
Checked: September 27, 2026 The useful comparison is not “which ryokan has the nicer bath?” It is whether you want to walk to shared baths or have two private tubs attached to your room. Baien has the more substantial public-bath setup. Kaze no Mori puts a private indoor and open-air bath in every detached room.

If one private soak is enough, compare Baien first
Guests at Baien can use two private family baths without an extra charge. They are not reservable in advance; you use one when vacant. If you also enjoy a large outdoor bath with a view of Mt. Yufu and a cypress indoor bath, a standard room may already cover what you want from the stay.
The room label needs care. Baien has 26 rooms across its main building and detached units, but “detached” does not automatically mean “private bath.” The official room pages list four detached rooms with an outdoor bath, one with a semi-open-air bath, and detached rooms without a guest bath. Confirm the exact category before comparing it with Kaze no Mori.
If you bathe repeatedly, Kaze no Mori removes the waiting question
Kaze no Mori has ten detached rooms, each with an indoor and an outdoor spring bath. That makes a late-night soak, a short bath before breakfast, or a return to the tub after walking into town much simpler: you do not have to wait for a shared private-use bath to clear.
The in-room baths are the main differentiator, but the property is not next to the station. Its access page says the walk is about 20 minutes. The free pickup now runs on five fixed departures—3:00, 3:30, 4:00, 4:30 and 5:00 p.m.—and must be requested by 3 p.m. on the day before arrival. The van does not run without a booking, and each departure has limited capacity.
Consider the grounds and the current work notice
Baien’s public bath route includes a sloped path of about 20 metres; its FAQ says the property has stairs and slopes and is not fully barrier-free. Kaze no Mori is also a detached-villa property, so check the location of the assigned room and the routes between it, the dining area and any shared facilities if walking is difficult.
Baien currently lists well re-drilling work through November 30, 2026, with daytime work generally scheduled for 9 a.m.–5 p.m. The inn warns of possible machinery noise, vibration and vehicles; weather may extend the schedule. This is a time-limited factor, not a permanent comparison point.
For a stay outside that work period, the decision stays with bathing style: Baien for the large shared bath and occasional family soak; Kaze no Mori for two private in-room baths in every category.
