Four Yufuin Ryokan Near Lake Kinrinko: Which Bath Fits Your Morning?
Compare Tanokura, Hananomai, UBL Hotel and Hoteiya near Lake Kinrin by in-room spring baths, shared facilities and morning bathing.
Checked: September 27, 2026 “Near Lake Kinrinko” does not tell you what happens when you get back. You might step straight into a private bath in your room, head to a public bath, or wait until a private-use bath is free. Here are four inns that make the lake walk easy, with the bath arrangement kept front and center.
| Inn | Walk to the lake | In-room bathing | Shared facilities |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ryotei Tanokura | About 1 minute | Hot-spring bath in all 11 rooms; five rooms have an open-air bath | Two public baths; guests can also use the sister inn’s public bath |
| Hananomai | About 5 minutes | Two rooms with an indoor bath; two detached rooms with an open-air bath | Public bath, plus private-use indoor and outdoor baths when vacant, 3 p.m.–9:30 a.m. |
| Yufuin Ubl Hotel | About 5–6 minutes | Ten special rooms have a private hot-spring view bath; standard rooms do not | Large public indoor and outdoor baths, plus a sauna; check the current guest schedule |
| Hoteiya | About 8 minutes | Varies by room; Lavender and Kokonoe have no in-room bath | Public outdoor bath and two free 40-minute private-use baths when vacant, 3–11 p.m. and 6–9 a.m. |
If you want to come back from the lake and bathe right away
Tanokura is the clearest fit. Every room has an in-room hot spring, so the walk can happen before breakfast without depending on the public bath opening time or finding a shared private-use bath empty. Confirm the full room description if an outdoor bath matters: only five of the 11 rooms have one.
There is a small but useful timing wrinkle if you are planning a very early start. The official bath page says the two public baths switch gender sides at 5 a.m., while its stated morning bathing window begins at 6 a.m. The room baths are the no-guesswork option before then; ask at check-in if you intend to use a public bath at dawn.
Ubl Hotel suits a different morning. Its standard rooms work if you are happy to use the public baths; the ten special rooms add a private view bath, but these are indoor baths rather than open-air tubs. That makes the special-room premium a choice about privacy and timing, not about outdoor bathing.
Hananomai and Hoteiya leave more room in the room budget
At Hananomai, a standard room can still work for two people who want to bathe together, provided they are flexible about when the private-use bath is free. The eight-room property has just two detached rooms with private open-air baths; two other rooms have an indoor bath. At Hoteiya, the categories are more varied across 13 room types, and the two private-use baths offer a free alternative to paying for a room bath. In both cases, a shared bath cannot guarantee the exact time you want.
Hoteiya’s published overnight schedule is 3–11 p.m. and 6–9 a.m. for the public open-air bath and both private-use baths. Each private-use session is 40 minutes, with no advance booking: guests enter when a bath is vacant.
Hananomai’s official Yufu City listing gives a longer window, 3 p.m.–9:30 a.m., and likewise says its two private-use baths are used without reservations when free. These are lodging-guest arrangements, not a promise of day-use admission; check directly before planning a standalone visit.
Their distance from the lake is only part of the arrival plan. Hananomai is about a 15-minute walk from Yufuin Station and offers pickup by prior arrangement. Hoteiya lists the station at roughly a 21-minute walk and offers a free pickup; contact the inn to confirm the procedure. A lake-side walk with no luggage is different from rolling a suitcase from the station, especially in rain.
The simplest way to compare these stays is to start with your morning: if you need a private bath immediately after the lake, prioritize the room itself; if the public bath is fine, the standard room at Ubl may be enough; if a shared private-use slot works, Hananomai or Hoteiya may leave more room in the budget.
