Hananomai or Gettouan? Two Very Different Private-Onsen Stays in Yufuin
Compare Hananomai’s shared private-use baths with Gettouan’s open-air bath in every cottage, plus town access and hillside transport.

The details that matter once you choose a side
Hananomai’s standard Japanese rooms are on the second floor and require stairs. Station pickup needs to be arranged by the day before, and the inn does not offer airport transfers. Its location suits guests who plan to walk around Yufuin rather than stay on the grounds all day.
At Gettouan, the annex age restriction may settle the choice for families: children below junior-high-school age cannot stay there. The main house has no such annex-only condition in the room comparison, but check the selected plan’s own terms. Guests who want a quieter, on-property stay should also account for the hillside location and current shuttle suspension; a taxi is the practical connection from the station.
For a fair rate comparison, match dates, guest count, meals, cancellation terms and room category. Compare Hananomai’s standard room plus access to a shared private-use bath against a Gettouan cottage only if occasional private bathing meets your needs.
