Besso Konjakuan: Which Yufuin Room Comes With Its Own Onsen?
Eight of Besso Konjakuan’s nine rooms have a hot-spring bath. See why the Kaede room is different and how its three private-use family baths work.
Checked: September 27, 2026 At Besso Konjakuan, the room name matters more than the words “main house” or “detached.” Four of the five main-house rooms have their own hot-spring bath, as do all four cottages. Kaede is the exception: it has no bath in the room. The inn has three private-use family baths—two outdoor and one indoor—so choosing Kaede does not mean sharing a bath with strangers, but it does mean stepping out and checking whether one is free.
Main house or cottage?
The main house offers the widest range of room styles. Akebi is a Japanese room with an outdoor bath for two to four guests; Sumire is a renovated twin room for two with a semi-open-air bath. Ayame and Sakura combine Japanese and Western-style space for small groups, with Sakura accommodating up to five. Each has a room-specific bath.
The four detached cottages add more separation from the main building and a private outdoor bath. Selected plans for Higurashi and Tonbo include meals served in the room; other meal plans use the dining area. Check the exact plan rather than assuming room service comes with every cottage.
Kaede is a practical choice if you want the inn’s location, meals and spring but do not need a tub attached to your room. The official room page directs Kaede guests to the family baths. They are listed as open around the clock, but use is still subject to another party occupying a bath.
Spring water and dinner
Konjakuan describes its water as an alkaline simple hot spring, 100% natural and free-flowing from the source. That description is published for the room and family baths; it does not provide a measured bathing temperature for each tub.
Dinner plans feature seasonal dishes and local ingredients, including Oita beef and Bungo chicken. The inn’s standard check-in starts at 4 p.m., with latest check-in listed as 6 p.m. If traffic or train connections could push you later, contact the property before choosing a dinner plan.
