Hotel Seawave Beppu: a one-minute station stay with extra onsen stops
A practical guide to Hotel Seawave’s station location, two gender-rotating baths, six sister-hotel baths, room sizes and housekeeping schedule.
Hotel Seawave Beppu is hard to beat for convenience: it stands opposite Beppu Station’s east exit, has its own natural hot spring, and offers guests access to baths at six sister hotels when those facilities are open to visitors. That last perk can turn a simple station hotel into a useful base for an onsen-hopping evening. It matters much less if you plan to stay in your room and skip communal bathing.
A search for November 18, 2026, showed a one-night room for two at about ¥12,560. That was the rate available for that search, not a fixed price or a promise that breakfast, dinner or a particular room was included.
What the sister-hotel bath benefit actually includes
Hotel Seawave lists free use of natural hot springs at six group properties: Beppu Station Hotel, Hotel Fujiyoshi, Hotel Hayashi, Hotel Sansenkaku, Seaside Hotel Mimatsu and Tenku-Yubo Seikaiso. Each property has its own bath and operating conditions. Check the group guidance and the day’s opening status before building an itinerary around the benefit.
The group excludes peak periods such as New Year, Golden Week, Obon and Silver Week from this free-bath benefit. It can also pause entry when a facility is busy. Treat it as a walking bath-hopping option, not permission to drive between properties or park at the sister hotels.
This is most useful if you have time to visit more than one bath and enjoy seeing different facilities. It is not a reason to pay extra if you will only use Seawave’s own onsen.
Two baths in the hotel, with a daily changeover
The first-floor bath has a large indoor pool and a garden-style open-air bath. On the third floor, guests will find another indoor bath and a waterfall-style bath. Men and women switch floors daily, so a one-night guest who wants to see both layouts should plan one visit in the evening and another the following morning.
Staying guests can use the baths from 4 pm to midnight and from 6 am to 10 am. The hotel describes its water as 100% natural hot spring water, flowing directly from the source, with a sodium-magnesium bicarbonate/chloride spring classification.
The guest-room bath is not an onsen
All 92 rooms have a private bathroom, but the hotel does not describe those tubs as natural hot spring baths. Standard rooms are around 16–20 m². A 20 m² Twin B gives two guests a little more room for luggage than the smaller doubles and twins; the 35 m² top-floor Semi Suite is the option for people who want more space and a city view. Upgrading does not add a private onsen—the public baths are the same for all guests.
Several standard-room bathrooms were renovated in September 2024. If a newer bathroom is important, check the specific room plan rather than assuming every room has the same update.
Staying more than one night? Read the housekeeping schedule
Since October 2025, full room cleaning for consecutive stays is scheduled once every three nights. Towels and rubbish bags are replaced daily. That may be fine if you mainly need fresh towels, but it is worth knowing before booking a multi-night stay if you expect a full clean each day.
There is also a free manga corner with around 1,000 volumes, open from 7 am to 11 pm. It is a handy rainy-day extra, not a substitute for choosing the right room or bath setup.
Breakfast and access
The hotel’s buffet is served on the first floor from 6:30 to 10 am, with last entry and orders at 9:30. Dinner generally needs to be booked by the previous day and is served from 6 pm to 9 pm. Meal prices depend on the plan, so compare the room-only and breakfast options for your dates instead of relying on an old menu price.
Being one minute from the station is the simple win here: early trains, late arrivals and luggage are all easier. The hotel also has a private parking lot for guests; large buses cannot park there, and drivers with unusual vehicle dimensions should contact the property in advance. Parking at a sister hotel is not included when visiting its bath.
Hotel Seawave does not publish a tattoo rule for its baths. The six sister properties set their own conditions, so ask each hotel you plan to visit.
For children, enter each child’s age and bedding needs in the booking search; room occupancy and bed-sharing conditions vary by plan. The hotel has lifts, but its public information does not map a step-free route from guest rooms through the changing area and into the bath. Older guests or anyone who needs a handrail, shower chair or transfer support should check those details with the hotel before paying.
Is it a good base for Beppu?
For a short stay built around trains and hot springs, yes. You can bathe at the hotel without leaving the station area, then add a sister-property bath if the schedule and crowd conditions allow. Rooms are city-hotel sized, and the in-room tubs are ordinary baths. Travellers who want a spacious resort-style room or a private natural onsen should look elsewhere.
Compare the room size, meal plan and cancellation terms for your dates.
