Spa Seare in Saka, Hiroshima: Which Ticket Fits Your Visit?
Near JR Saka Station, Spa Seare offers ¥500 indoor-only entry or ¥1,200 full admission. Baths close 8–10 a.m.; private spring rooms cost extra.
Spa Seare works best if you want a full hot-spring and sauna visit without a car: JR Saka Station is about a three-minute walk away, and the facility is open around the clock except for its daily bath-cleaning break. That does not mean you can soak at any hour. The baths close from 8 to 10am, and visits between 1 and 5am incur a ¥1,000 late-night charge.
The main choice is between a ¥500 basic bath and ¥1,200 full admission. The cheaper ticket is for a short wash and soak in the indoor baths; it excludes the open-air baths, saunas and cold baths, and does not allow re-entry. If those features are why you are coming, buy full admission from the start.
As of 28 September 2026, Spa Seare is operating again after its 8–9 September maintenance closure. The operator confirmed on 14 September that the Niōdō outdoor bath had reopened. A footbath and a men’s seated bath are also listed, though their day-to-day availability is not specified; call ahead if either is essential. Choose the ticket by what you plan to use
| Visit | Adult price | What to know |
|---|---|---|
| Basic bath | ¥500 | Indoor bathing only; no open-air baths, sauna or cold bath; no re-entry; bring your own towels and toiletries |
| Full admission | ¥1,200 general / ¥1,000 member | Includes the main bathing areas and sauna; towel set is another ¥300 |
| Full admission plus relaxation set | ¥2,300 at the general rate | Adds indoor clothing, towels, a blanket and access to the long-stay lounge areas; does not include the late-night surcharge |
The operator lists ¥750 admission for children aged four through elementary school. The basic-bath option costs ¥200 for elementary school children and ¥100 for preschool children aged four or older. Children younger than four are not listed in the current fee table, so check with the facility rather than assuming they enter free.
The relaxation set includes a robe, towels for the heated-stone area, bath and face towels, and a towel blanket. The operator describes it as allowing a 24-hour stay. That is not the same as booking a hotel bed; lounge and cabin seating is assigned and may be limited when full.
The ¥1,000 late-night charge applies from 1 to 5am. An ordinary overnight visit with full admission and the set starts at ¥3,300 before food or other extras.
The bath closes for cleaning every morning
The building remains open, but bathing is unavailable from 8 to 10am. If you arrive on an early train from Hiroshima and reach Saka before 10, you will have to wait before entering the baths. Guests using the long-stay areas also need to leave the bathing area during its cleaning period; lounge and spa-zone cleaning follows later in the morning.
Spa Seare also closes for maintenance, usually on the second Tuesday and Wednesday of the month, though holidays can shift the schedule. The operator’s current notice lists 13–14 October 2026 as the next closure. Check the monthly schedule before travelling if your visit is near a maintenance date.
What kind of onsen is it?
Spa Seare draws natural hot spring water from about 1,000 metres underground. The operator names the source Sakachio no Ka Onsen and classifies it as a high-salinity sodium-chloride spring containing a small amount of radon; the spring is neutral and low-temperature at source. The open-air baths use the natural spring, and the private open-air rooms are specifically described as free-flowing spring baths.
The facility’s online pages do not provide a current source temperature, pH, flow rate or a treatment breakdown for each public tub. Nor should the hydrogen, carbonated or other functional baths be mistaken for natural spring water just because they are in the same bathing complex. The strongest reason to come for the water itself is the salty outdoor onsen and the private rooms—not a claim that every pool is untreated spring water.
The outdoor areas rotate between the men’s and women’s sides weekly, on Mondays. That means the cave-like Niōdō and the more open Kannon spring are not both available to every guest at the same time. If one matters to you, ask which side is assigned to your bathing area on the day.
Private open-air rooms are a separate booking
The four themed rooms can be booked on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays. The room charge is ¥4,000 for two hours or ¥6,000 for three hours; each guest still pays admission separately. For two adults on a regular Saturday, that means at least ¥6,400 in total for full general admission plus a two-hour room, before towels, meals or other purchases.
The private baths use natural spring water on a free-flowing basis, and the facility recommends booking by phone at 082-886-3345. They are private bathing rooms, not accommodation: there is no bed or bedding. This option can suit couples or families who want to bathe together, but it is only offered on weekends and public holidays, and the room fee is on top of everyone’s entry ticket.
Getting there from Hiroshima or Kure
Saka is a straightforward rail stop on the JR Kure Line. The facility lists a roughly 16-minute ride from Hiroshima Station and 26 minutes from Kure Station, followed by a three-minute walk from Saka Station. There is no need to coordinate a shuttle. Drivers can use the shared car park, which the operator lists as having 720 spaces.
If your day is centred on Miyajima, going east to Saka and then backtracking may not be the simplest route. Use this car-free onsen guide after visiting Miyajima to compare options closer to where you will finish. For the two Honoyu branches in the city, see the Ujina and Rakurakuen comparison.
Check these rules before setting out
Spa Seare does not admit guests with tattoos, body paint or stickers. Children below elementary-school age cannot use the facility by themselves, and mixed bathing is not allowed for elementary-school-aged children or older. After 10pm, guests under 18 need a guardian; high school students who are 18 are also covered by the restriction.
Spa Seare’s size does not guarantee a step-free route to every bath. If you use a mobility aid or need help transferring, call about the route to your chosen bathing area and the setup in the private rooms.
