Tsunashima Gen-sen Yukemuri no Sho: Dark Onsen Water, Prices and How to Get There

Plan a visit to Tsunashima Gen-sen Yukemuri no Sho for its dark natural spring, included towel set and shuttle or walking route from the stations.

Checked: September 28, 2026

Tsunashima Gen-sen Yukemuri no Sho sits in Kohoku Ward, away from the station exits that share its name. The draw is the water: Central Tsunashima Onsen is a dark-brown sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring, with a published pH of 7.7 and a flow rate of 240 litres per minute. The facility also has outdoor baths, a cold spring-water bath, sauna, bedrock bathing, a restaurant and large relaxation rooms.

There is one extra reason to go this autumn. The facility’s September 24, 2026 notice says its unheated “raw spring” kakenagashi bath is running through October 31. That is a current event, not a year-round promise; check the facility’s event page again if your visit is later.

What the admission fee covers

AdmissionWeekdayWeekend or public holiday
Adult, middle school age and up¥1,540¥1,700 + ¥100 bath tax (¥1,800 total)
Child, elementary school age¥1,180¥1,320
Bedrock bathing, middle school age and up¥880¥990

The bath ticket includes a rented face towel, bath towel and facility loungewear. You can return to the baths during the same visit, but leaving the building and coming back means paying admission again. Bedrock bathing is an add-on and cannot be used without a bath ticket; its dedicated outfit and mat are included. For an adult, admission plus bedrock bathing comes to ¥2,420 on a weekday or ¥2,790 on a weekend or public holiday, including the bath tax.

The price makes more sense if you plan to use the lounges, eat, or spend time in the baths and sauna. For a quick soak, the included clothes and facilities may be more than you need. The bath area is open 9 am to midnight, with last admission at 11 pm; bedrock bathing closes at 11 pm. The restaurant’s last order is 11 pm, and some grilled and fried dishes stop earlier at 10:45 pm.

The spring is the reason to choose Tsunashima

The published source data gives the spring name as Central Tsunashima Onsen and describes it as a sodium bicarbonate cold mineral spring, with pH 7.7 and a flow of 240 litres per minute. Its natural color is dark brown, close to black, with a faint metallic note.

“Cold mineral spring” describes the water at its source; it does not mean every bath is cold. The facility has a dedicated cold spring-water bath as well as heated baths, so check the label by each tub rather than assuming they all use the same temperature or treatment.

The seasonal raw-spring bath is a separate detail worth checking before you go. During the current event, the source water is used at its original temperature without heating. That makes it an option for people who find a conventional cold plunge too cold, or who want to try alternating between warm and cooler baths. It is not listed as a permanent bath, and the notice does not give a fixed source temperature.

The facility lists 12 kinds of natural-spring bath. The lineup includes an outdoor rock bath, a source-water indoor bath, a cold spring-water bath, a reclining bath and a women-only standing bath. A Finnish-style sauna offers self-serve löyly; scheduled löyly times differ between the men’s and women’s sauna areas. The details and individual bath lineups can change, so use the facility’s spring and bath guide for the current layout.

Plan the final stretch from the station

The facility is an 18-minute walk from Tokyu Toyoko Line’s Tsunashima Station, or 17 minutes from Shin-Tsunashima Station on the Sotetsu–Tokyu Shin-Yokohama Line. A free shuttle runs from both stations, but the vehicle seats only nine and may leave once full. The final return service is often busy, and traffic can affect timings. If you are travelling as a group or have a train to catch, don’t make the shuttle your only way home.

The bus is a useful backup. From Shin-Tsunashima’s south exit, take Rinko Bus route 51 from stop 2, or Yokohama Municipal Bus route 13 from stop 3, then get off at Tarunoya; it is about a minute’s walk from the stop. The facility’s access page lists an estimated six-minute ride on route 51 from Shin-Tsunashima. Check the operator’s live timetable before setting out.

Drivers have access to more than 200 dedicated parking spaces. Bath visitors get three hours free; after that, parking is ¥220 per 30 minutes, capped at ¥1,100 for the day. A long visit with bedrock bathing and a meal can run past the free period, so include parking in your total if you are driving.

For a station-front option that is easier to fit into a short Yokohama stop, compare Manten no Yu beside Kami-Hoshikawa Station or the Yokohama day-use onsen guide. Tsunashima is the better fit when the water itself is your priority and a longer visit is part of the plan.

Check entry rules before bringing children or booking a treatment

Only elementary-school-age children and older may enter. Children aged seven and up cannot use the bath for the opposite sex, and bedrock bathing is limited to middle-school age and older. The facility prohibits tattoos of any size, including tattoo stickers and henna; if one is found, guests are asked to pay and leave. Swimsuits and bathing with a towel wrapped around the body are also not allowed. The facility does permit a purpose-made bathing cover for guests who have had breast-cancer surgery.

The public baths are gender-separated. Bedrock bathing, the restaurant and the relaxation rooms are shared, so couples and mixed groups can spend time together outside the bathing areas. There are more than 100 TV-equipped reclining seats, including a women-only section.
