Irorian Day-Use Onsen in Muikamachi: Weekend Hours and What to Know

Irorian feels like a small mountain inn rather than a large public spa. The appeal is its garden-facing outdoor bath and the chance to use the inn’s hot spring without staying overnight. The catch is that this is a limited weekend arrangement, not an anytime walk-in option.

Saturday and Sunday run on different clocks

The inn’s day-use notice lists these hours:

Adult and elementary-school admission is ¥1,000; preschool children are free. The same notice says the inn may decline day visitors when its accommodation bookings are full. The published notice dates from December 2024, so call before travelling to confirm that the service is running on your chosen weekend and ask whether the bathing tax is included in the quoted admission.

That Sunday start time is easy to miss. Arriving at 11 am because Saturday begins then will leave you waiting; on Sunday, the posted day-use window starts at 2 pm.

The bath itself

Irorian describes its water as a simple hot spring used source-fed, with indoor bathing and an outdoor bath facing the surrounding landscape. The inn also sometimes runs an herb bath, but it is not guaranteed every day. Its day-use notice does not promise that seasonal or special bath, so treat it as a bonus rather than the reason to make the trip.

The day-use page does not spell out a complete list of included amenities for outside visitors. Nor does the inn publish a single source temperature there. It is safer to ask about anything you need—towels, changing-room amenities or a particular bath—when confirming your visit.

Plan the ride before the soak

Irorian is in the Muikamachi area of Minamiuonuma. The inn has transport information for overnight stays, but the published accommodation shuttle arrangements should not be assumed to cover a ¥1,000 day-bath visit. If you are coming by train, arrange your connection from Muikamachi Station separately and confirm the return ride before entering the bath; local transport options thin out in the evening.
