Oyado Kiyomizuya in Noboribetsu: In-Room Dining and Shared Onsen

Plan a Kiyomizuya stay in Noboribetsu around in-room meals, a shared onsen, rotating outdoor-bath hours, bus-terminal pickup and the 7 p.m. check-in limit.

Oyado Kiyomizuya makes sense when you want a quieter night in Noboribetsu and are happy to use a shared bath. The inn has 28 rooms, serves meals in the guest room, and offers a natural hot-spring bath with one outdoor pool that switches between men and women. It is a poor match if you need a private bath, want to soak as a couple at the same time, or expect a room with its own onsen.

The distinction between an en-suite bathroom and a private hot spring matters here. The local tourism association lists unit bathrooms among the room facilities, but neither the inn’s current overview nor its booking listing identifies those baths as natural-spring water. Treat the shared bath as the confirmed onsen experience; ask the inn directly if a private bath is essential.

A small inn where meals come to you

Kiyomizuya grew out of a Japanese restaurant, and the inn describes its food as a long-running focus. The current property listing says both breakfast and dinner are served in the room. That gives the evening a different rhythm from the large Noboribetsu hotels, where dinner is usually served in a busy buffet room.

In-room dining also makes the arrival deadline important. Check-in is listed from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., with check-out at 10 a.m. If you are travelling from Sapporo or New Chitose Airport, check how your train or bus connects before choosing a dinner-included plan. The inn notes that its outside phone line is unavailable overnight, so message or call earlier if your arrival time changes.

Rates and meal plans depend on the date and room type. Before paying, check whether both meals are included, the final check-in time for that plan, cancellation terms and any taxes. Do not assume that every room or rate has identical meal service just because the inn generally offers in-room dining.

Bathing takes a little coordination

The shared bathing area is listed as open from 2 p.m. until 10 a.m. the next morning. The outdoor bath is used by men and women at different times; from 9 to 9:30 p.m. it closes for cleaning and the changeover. If dinner finishes near that half-hour, ask which side has access next rather than planning around an assumed schedule.

Use the shared bath after check-in, then fit another soak around the outdoor-pool rotation; there is also a morning bathing window before check-out. The outdoor pool is not private, and the inn currently lists no reservable family bath.

The local tourism association lists a standard in-room unit bath, but does not identify it as hot-spring water. Kiyomizuya also publishes no full spring analysis; Noboribetsu’s range of spring types cannot establish this inn’s pH, source temperature or bath treatment.

Getting there without hauling bags uphill

From JR Noboribetsu Station, Dōnan Bus takes about 27 minutes to the hot-spring area; the current adult fare is ¥450. From the Noboribetsu Onsen bus terminal, Kiyomizuya’s property listing says guests can call on arrival for a pickup. Confirm the pickup procedure and timing with the inn before travel. It is an accommodation transfer, not a general shuttle for day visitors.

If you are arriving with a large suitcase, use the pickup rather than assuming every Noboribetsu hotel is an easy walk from the terminal. The inn is set farther into the district than some properties. For the longer journey from Sapporo or New Chitose, use the Noboribetsu access guide; for hotel location trade-offs, see where to stay in Noboribetsu.

Kiyomizuya suits couples, adults travelling together and anyone who prefers a traditional inn’s room-centred meals to a large buffet. If you need simultaneous mixed bathing, a confirmed private onsen or a late arrival, choose another property and check its exact bath and check-in terms before booking.
