Three Public Baths in Abeno, Osaka: Which One Fits Your Route?

Compare Abeno’s three operating sento by Tennoji, Nishitanabe or Showacho access, ¥600 entry, sauna cost, spring-water evidence and soft water.

Osaka’s Abeno Ward has three operating neighborhood sento, according to the ward’s April 2026 directory: Irifune Onsen near Nishitanabe, Yudokoro Abenobashi by Tennoji, and Fukusui Onsen in Showacho. Adult admission is ¥600 at each. Abenobashi draws Tennoji visitors with its daily delivered spring water; Irifune’s location suits runners around Nagai Park, while Fukusui is the one for soft water and an old tiled interior.

The ward’s count is administrative, not a list of every bath within walking distance of Abeno. Nearby places such as Hinodeyu and Wako Bathhouse are in neighboring wards, even if they may be convenient from Tennoji.

Irifune Onsen: the runner’s stop by Nishitanabe

This Irifune Onsen is at 1-2-22 Nishitanabe-cho, Abeno-ku. It is a different bathhouse from Irifune Onsen in Shin-Imamiya. Nagai Park is about 800 metres away, and Nishitanabe Station is a one-minute walk.

The bathhouse opens at 15:00 on most days and at 13:00 on Sundays. It closes on Tuesdays and the first Monday of each month. The dry sauna is ¥100 extra, including a sauna towel. A medicinal bath, outdoor bath, electric bath and charcoal-rock bath are also listed. The cold bath is kept around 13°C, notably colder than a typical sento plunge pool.

The Osaka bathhouse association lists it as a runner-friendly sento. That is useful after a run in Nagai Park; it does not mean the bathhouse provides large-luggage storage. Ask directly before relying on any storage arrangement.

Yudokoro Abenobashi: a natural-spring bath after Tennoji

From Tennoji, this is the easiest of the three to pair with a day around Abeno Harukas and Q’s Mall. Its key distinction is specific: natural spring water from Therme Ryugu in Osaka’s Minato Ward is delivered daily to the designated large bath. That does not make every tub, the sauna or the steam room a natural-spring bath.

Fukusui Onsen: soft water and a distinctive old bathhouse

Fukusui is at 2-2-16 Hannan-cho, a short walk from Showacho Station. Its association listing describes soft water throughout the bathhouse, including the taps and showers. Facilities include a dry sauna, cold bath, medicinal bath and outdoor bath.

The outdoor bath uses an extract associated with Beppu’s Umi Jigoku. That is not the same as a daily delivery of natural spring water. The building’s long-used interior and Italian architectural tiles give this place a different feel from a newer, equipment-led spa.

There is a small hours discrepancy: the ward’s April 2026 page says 23:30, while the bathhouse association lists 23:00. Plan for a 23:00 close and call Fukusui at 06-6623-7470 if you expect to arrive late. It closes Fridays; the association says there is no on-site parking, with a large paid lot opposite.

For a simple choice: head to Abenobashi for Tennoji and the confirmed spring-water bath; Irifune for Nishitanabe or Nagai Park; Fukusui for Showacho and soft water. All three charge the standard ¥600 adult admission, but sauna and towel costs vary.
