Denpo Koshin-yu in Osaka: A Wood-Fired Neighborhood Sento
Denpo Koshin-yu is a traditional sento in Konohana Ward, with wood-heated bath water, a dry sauna and cold bath. Open 3–10 p.m.; irregular days off.
Denpo Koshin-yu is a neighborhood sento in Osaka’s Konohana Ward, about a 10-minute walk from Denpo Station. Its defining detail is the bathhouse association’s description of water heated with firewood. That is the bath water—not a wood-fired sauna. The current listing also confirms a dry sauna, cold bath and electric bath, alongside a traditional front desk and a large tanuki statue at the entrance.

What the wood-fired detail means
The association says Koshin-yu heats its bath water with firewood rather than fossil fuel. Its equipment list separately identifies a dry sauna, but does not say that the sauna stove is wood-fired. The published listing also does not advertise an outdoor bath, carbonated bath, restaurant or lounge.
The appeal is its working neighborhood-bath character, not a large spa complex. The association does not publish a fixed sauna fee or towel arrangement. A September 2025 visitor report mentioned sauna use with a personal towel and a ¥150 towel set, but the operator has not confirmed that rate.
Is it a natural hot spring?
There is no published spring analysis or source-water information for this bathhouse in the current association listing. Firewood describes how the water is heated; it does not establish that the water comes from a natural hot spring. The same goes for the cold bath and electric bath—they are facility features, not evidence of spring quality.
Is it practical after Universal Studios Japan?
It can work if you are staying nearby or leave the park early enough to reach Denpo. The bath closes at 22:00, but no last-admission time is listed. Arriving around 20:30–21:00 is a planning buffer, not an official cutoff; transport, crowds and dinner after a late USJ exit can make the visit tight.
The association listing gives no dedicated parking information, so drivers should check nearby paid parking rather than assume there is an on-site lot. For a late-night bath, a different Konohana-area facility with later hours may suit better.
The current admission prices are listed above. Ask at the counter about sauna access and towel costs before paying; the association has not confirmed the visitor-reported towel price as a standing rate.
There is no confirmed natural spring analysis, and the association’s current equipment list does not include an outdoor bath, carbonated bath or stone sauna. “Wood-heated” refers to the bath water, not the sauna stove. That distinction matters if you are searching for an outdoor soak or a natural hot spring rather than a traditional neighborhood bath.
Koshin-yu is about a ten-minute walk from Hanshin Denpo Station and closes at 10 p.m. A post-USJ visit works best if you leave the park early; queues and the trip to Denpo cut into the evening. For a later-closing bath near Chidoribashi, see Baika Onsen. Terme Ryugu is the nearby option with documented natural spring water.
Koshin-yu publishes no tattoo policy or children’s bathing rules, and its closing days are irregular. Check the rules and opening status with the bathhouse before you go.
