Sento in Konohana and Minato: Baths Near USJ, Nishikujo and Osaka Bay
Compare ten listed sento in Osaka’s Konohana and Minato wards by route from Nishikujo, Chidoribashi, Kasugaide or Osaka Bay; one other facility remains closed.
The useful question after a day at Universal Studios Japan is usually “Which bath fits the way back to my hotel?” A sento near Nishikujo can be a quick detour; crossing to Yahataya or Osaka Port adds another leg. The city’s April 2026 list names six ordinary public bathhouses in Konohana Ward and four in Minato Ward. Irifune Onsen is not included among the active choices and remains listed as closed by the association.
| Area | Bath | Listed hours / closure | A practical reason to consider it |
|---|---|---|---|
| Konohana | Koshin-yu | 3–10 p.m.; irregular days off | Denpo-side neighborhood bath; confirm before making a special trip |
| Konohana | Daifuku-yu | 2:30–11:30 p.m.; Wednesday | Handy if your return route already passes through Nishikujo |
| Konohana | Chidori Onsen | 2:30–10:30 p.m.; Tuesday | Eastern Konohana sento with a dry sauna included in admission |
| Konohana | Naniwa Onsen Jabujabuland | 2 p.m.–midnight; Thursday | Kasugaide-side option with five parking spaces; “Onsen” in the name does not prove spring water |
| Konohana | Baika Onsen | 2:05 p.m.–midnight; Friday | Near Chidoribashi, with steam sauna and outdoor bath listed by the association |
| Konohana | Yutaka-yu | 3:35–10 p.m.; alternate Wednesdays | Kasugaide-kita neighborhood option with a shorter evening window |
| Minato | Inari Onsen | 2–11 p.m.; Sunday 9 a.m.–11 p.m.; Friday | Sunday-morning option in the Yahataya area; older listings still show 7 a.m. |
| Minato | Manraku-yu | 3–11 p.m.; Friday | A straightforward local bath around San-saki |
| Minato | Natural Hot Spring Terume Ryugu | 3–11 p.m.; Sunday from 8 a.m.; Thursday | The clearest documented natural-spring choice in these two wards |
| Minato | Asahi-yu | 2 p.m.–midnight; Wednesday | Useful when you need a later closing time in the Asashiobashi area |
Sunday morning: Terume Ryugu or Inari Onsen?
Terume Ryugu is the simpler early start: its Sunday listing begins at 8 a.m. Inari Onsen’s schedule is less clear. The bathhouse association page still shows a 7 a.m. opening, but a dated facility update says Sunday service moved to 9 a.m. from May 25, 2025.
Use 9 a.m. as the safer planning time and confirm directly if an earlier visit matters. The older 7 a.m. figure remains online.
The distinction matters if you are staying around Yahataya and want a low-cost neighbourhood bath. Inari is a sento, not a verified natural hot spring; its herbal bath and soft water are separate from the spring-water experience documented at Terume Ryugu. The Inari Onsen Sunday guide has the fuller timing caveat.
Natural spring claims need more than “Onsen” in the name
Several facilities use onsen in their names. That does not, by itself, establish that a legally classified natural spring is used in the baths. Terume Ryugu publishes spring information and describes a source-fed outdoor bath; do not transfer that status to nearby sento with similar names.
For a standard Osaka public bath, the current association rate is ¥600 for adults, ¥200 for schoolchildren and ¥100 for younger children. Sauna, towel and other charges depend on the individual bathhouse. A basic sento ticket is not a promise that every extra is included.
Which ward works better after USJ?
If your hotel or onward train is around Nishikujo, stay on that side of the map and check Daifuku-yu first. Chidoribashi accommodation points more naturally to Baika Onsen. For a Sunday start in Minato Ward, compare the 8 a.m. Terume listing with Inari’s safer 9 a.m. planning time. Asahi-yu is worth checking when you need a later evening bath near Asashiobashi.
These are neighbourhood baths, not a reason to cross Osaka just to tick off a name. Check the day’s hours and holiday notice on the facility page, especially for smaller venues whose schedules can change.
All ten active entries are ordinary public bathhouses under the city’s April 2026 list, so use ¥600 for an adult admission, ¥200 for a school-age child and ¥100 for a younger child as the base budget. Sauna, towel and other extras are not included by default. The list is an administrative count, not a guarantee that every bath will be open on the day you visit.
Inari Onsen’s Monday–Thursday and Saturday schedule is listed as 2–11 p.m.; Sunday is the morning exception. Terume Ryugu’s Sunday 8 a.m. opening is the earliest documented option in this comparison, and it is also the only facility here with clear natural-spring evidence. If natural water is not a requirement, the better choice usually comes down to your route home and how late you want to stay out.
There is no ward-wide tattoo rule; check with the bathhouse you plan to visit. Irifune Onsen remains closed and is not among the ten active baths, so its former policy does not apply to this list.
