Manrakuyu in Osaka’s Minato Ward: A Neighbourhood Sento Near Asashiobashi

Manrakuyu is a nine-minute walk from Asashiobashi, with a dry sauna and outdoor bath. It closes at 11 p.m.; convenient from Mitsuzaki or Yuunagi.

Manrakuyu is a local public bath in Mitsuzaki, Minato Ward—not a large spa beside the aquarium. Its value is more down-to-earth: a regular sento ticket, a dry sauna and an outdoor bath, all within walking distance of Asashiobashi Station.

The Osaka Public Bathhouse Association lists hours of 3–11 p.m., with Fridays off. The station is about a nine-minute walk away.

The current adult base admission at association-member sento is ¥600. A May 2025 visitor record listed a ¥100 sauna add-on with a large towel, but that is not an official price list; budget for the basic bath and confirm the sauna charge at the counter.

The standard child rates are ¥200 for elementary-school children and ¥100 for preschoolers. The roughly ¥700 bath-and-sauna total is only a planning estimate based on that older visitor report; the current association page does not publish a sauna surcharge. Towel, hair-dryer and drink costs also depend on the current counter menu.

What is on offer

The association lists a dry sauna, cold bath, outdoor bath, medicinal bath, electric bath and jet bath. Recent dated user records also support that the dry sauna has been in use, while an older listing of a steam sauna appears to be out of date. There is no good reason to count on a current steam room.

Manrakuyu’s outdoor bath is a neighbourhood bathhouse feature, not a scenic hot-spring view. The facility’s name and the presence of a cold bath or medicinal bath do not establish a natural spring. Its current association page publishes no spring analysis.

There is a small but meaningful difference between current and older descriptions: the association presently lists a dry sauna, while some older directory entries mention a steam room. The dated user reports support the dry sauna being in service, but do not justify planning around a current steam sauna. If the distinction matters, ask before paying any sauna supplement.

The outdoor tub, electric bath and jet bath add variety to a standard wash-and-soak visit, but there is no resort-style landscape, private bath or long-stay relaxation floor. Think of it as a neighborhood stop, not a destination spa.

Keep the route local

The bath is at 1-12-7 Mitsuzaki. Allow about nine minutes from Asashiobashi Station on the Chuo Line. That is manageable if you are staying around Mitsuzaki, Yuunagi or the southern side of Asashiobashi. From Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan, it requires an extra ride to Asashiobashi and another walk; it is not the obvious choice if you only want the closest bath after a day at the aquarium.

There is no attached parking space listed by the association. Drivers should expect to use a nearby paid car park rather than assume they can park on site.

If you are spending the day at Kaiyukan or the Osaka Bay waterfront, Manrakuyu is not immediately next door: continue to Asashiobashi and allow for the walk. It is a more natural fit if you are staying in Mitsuzaki or Yuunagi, or already have a reason to pass through this part of Minato Ward.

Fridays are the regular closing day, and the bath closes at 11 p.m. If you need a later option nearer the station, see the Asahi-yu guide. For a Sunday-morning bath in the ward, use the Inari Onsen morning guide.

Manrakuyu is a reasonable choice for an adult who wants a dry sauna and outdoor tub within a short walk of Asashiobashi. It is less suitable if you need a late-night bath, step-free station access, confirmed natural spring water or an on-site car park. Tattoo rules are not stated on the association page; the third-party “OK” label is not an official policy, so check with the bathhouse directly.

For more options along the bay, compare the Konohana and Minato Ward sento guide and Terme Ryugu, which is a better match if documented spring water is the priority.
