Asahi-yu in Osaka’s Minato Ward: A Late Bath Near Asashiobashi

Four minutes from Asashiobashi, Asahi-yu closes at midnight and has dry and steam saunas, two cold baths and an upper-floor outdoor area. See prices and access.

Asahi-yu is a neighborhood sento for an evening around Osaka Bay, not a natural-onsen destination or a large modern spa. Its useful combination is uncommon at this price: a four-minute walk from Asashiobashi Station, 2pm–midnight hours, dry and steam saunas, two cold baths and an upstairs outdoor bathing area. If you are staying near the Chuo Line, it is an easy finish after an event or dinner.

The bathhouse is at 2-12-26 Tanaka, Minato Ward. The association lists Wednesday as its regular closing day and about four minutes on foot from Asashiobashi Station. It does not publish a last-entry time or an attached car park, so allow time before midnight and plan on a nearby paid lot if you are driving.

A better fit after the bay area than before breakfast

Asahi-yu opens at 2pm, so it will not help with a morning schedule. It works well after Asue Arena Osaka, an Osaka Port visit or an evening along the Chuo Line. Osaka Port is one stop from Asashiobashi; if you are already staying in the area, you avoid going back into central Osaka for a bath.

For a quick wash and soak, about 45 minutes may be enough. If you want to try a sauna, use one of the cold baths and spend time in the outdoor area, allow 60–90 minutes. Midnight is closing time, not a safe arrival target for a full visit; the association does not state the final admission cutoff.

Admission and sauna budget

The standard public-bath fare is set by Osaka’s current tariff. The association does not publish a current sauna surcharge; dated user reports describe the extra charge as including a rental towel, but this is not an official permanent price. Confirm it at the desk.

The steam room is also listed, but the sources do not clearly say whether it is included in the basic ticket or has a separate charge. Ask before entering if the price matters to your plan.

Bona sauna, steam room and two cold baths

Recent sauna listings describe the dry room as a Bona-style sauna, heated from below the benches. User readings in 2026 have been around 85–90°C, with different figures in older visit notes. Those readings explain the general feel—moderately hot to hot—but are not a fixed specification. Door openings, measurement point and time of day all affect the number.

There is a separate steam sauna for a more humid heat. The two options help if people in your group have different preferences; there is no reason to make everyone follow the same circuit. The facility also has two cold baths on different levels. Recent reports often put them around 16–18°C, but no fixed water temperature is published, so treat that as a snapshot rather than a year-round promise.

The upper floor includes an outdoor bathing area. It gives the visit an open-air break between the baths, but it does not indicate natural spring water. The remaining listed features include soft water, a medicinal bath and an electric bath. If you have a pacemaker or have been told to avoid electrical stimulation, skip the electric bath and follow your clinician’s advice.

How it compares with Inari Onsen and Terume Ryugu

Choose Asahi-yu if your day ends around Asashiobashi, you want to bathe until midnight and would use both sauna styles, the pair of cold baths or the upper-floor outdoor area.

Inari Onsen is the Minato Ward choice for Sunday morning bathing; it opens around 7am on Sundays, while Asahi-yu does not open until 2pm. If your priority is verified natural spring water or source-water details, choose Terume Ryugu instead. Asahi-yu’s outdoor bath and soft-water features do not establish a natural spring.

For a comparison focused on Asahi-yu and Terume Ryugu, see the Minato Ward bath comparison. For a larger shortlist, browse the Konohana and Minato sento guide or the Osaka day-use onsen guide.

Tattoo rules are not clearly stated in the cited current listings. Contact the bathhouse before visiting if you need a definite answer. Check the day’s schedule too if you are planning around a particular bath or sauna; facilities and readings can change.
