Enmeiyu: A Neighborhood Sento Three Minutes from Yokaichi Station

Plan a visit to Enmeiyu, a neighborhood sento three minutes from Yokaichi Station, with a sauna, cold bath and monthly closing dates to check.

Enmeiyu is an evening bathhouse in central Higashiomi, an easy three-minute walk from Yokaichi Station on the Omi Railway. It has more variety than a simple soak-and-go sento: alongside a sauna and cold bath, there are jet, bubble, electric and neon-lit baths. Check the calendar before setting out; the monthly closing dates follow specific days of the month, not a weekly schedule.

What is there to use?

The bathing area has a sauna, cold bath, jet bath, bubble bath, electric bath and a neon-lit bath. Seasonal baths are occasional events rather than year-round fixtures; the operator lists a yuzu bath on December 22 and an iris bath on May 5.

Enmeiyu’s website calls the water “onsen” but does not publish a spring analysis or detailed water classification. Treat it as a local sento when planning a visit, rather than choosing it specifically for a verified natural hot spring. For facilities with documented spring water, compare the Shiga day-use onsen guide.

Admission prices are not published online

Enmeiyu does not publish its current admission or sauna surcharge online. Ask at the counter before bathing; do not use Shiga’s regulated maximum as the facility’s confirmed price.

Age groupLegal maximum through Sep 30, 2026Legal maximum from Oct 1, 2026
Adult¥490¥550
School-age child (6–11)¥150¥200
Under 6¥100¥100

These are prefectural ceilings for ordinary public baths, not Enmeiyu’s confirmed rates. Bring cash and check the counter’s price board, especially from October onward. Soap, shampoo and towels are sold at the bathhouse, but their prices are not listed online. Credit cards are not accepted.

Hours and monthly closing dates

The reception desk accepts bathers from 5:00 to 10:30 p.m.; the facility closes at 11:00 p.m. Enmeiyu closes on the 3rd, 8th, 13th, 18th, 23rd and 28th of every month. That pattern is easy to miss if you only check which weekday your visit falls on.

Getting there

Yokaichi Station is the closest stop, about a three-minute walk away. Shin-Yokaichi Station is roughly five minutes on foot, while Tarobogu-mae Station is about 13 minutes away. The short walk from Yokaichi makes Enmeiyu a practical evening stop without a car; for a wider comparison of neighborhood baths, see the Shiga sento guide.

Drivers can use the paid Shimizu Shrine parking lot. Enmeiyu’s operator says bathhouse customers may park there free of charge; follow the lot’s instructions and confirm where to validate parking when you arrive.

A few details to settle before you go

Enmeiyu gives no tattoo-entry rule; call 0748-22-1002 before visiting if you have a tattoo. For other traditional neighborhood baths, the Otsu sento comparison and Miyakoyu-Zeze guide cover different facilities; if your route takes you further east, the Koto and Higashiomi day-onsen comparison is a better fit.
