Yumen Fureai Center: A Low-Cost Day Onsen in Nagato
Yumen Fureai Center costs ¥500 and has an outdoor bath and sauna; bring a towel, and note that 36.1°C is the source temperature.
Checked: September 27, 2026 Yumen Fureai Center is a local day-use bathing facility in Misumi, between Nagato and Hagi. It is worth adding to a drive through the area if you want more than a single bath: the current visitor listing includes indoor and outdoor pools, a steam bath, sauna, waterfall shower and bubble bath, along with a cafeteria and rest areas.
The entry price is modest, but the place is not a private-bath facility. The Yamaguchi Prefecture hot-spring association lists no family bath, so couples or carers who need a private bathing space should choose somewhere else.
Admission, hours and what to bring
Nanavi lists admission at ¥500 for junior-high students and older, ¥200 for children of elementary-school age and younger, and ¥100 for infants.
The center opens from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., with last admission at 8:30 p.m. It closes on Tuesdays; when Tuesday is a national holiday, the listed closure moves to Wednesday. Bring your own towel, as the visitor page asks.
The building is set up for a longer pause than a quick rinse. Alongside the bathing facilities, the listings include a large tatami room, lounge areas, a cafeteria, table tennis and karaoke rooms. Some larger rooms and halls require a separate fee and advance booking. Check with the center if you are planning to use those spaces rather than just the baths.
The spring figures—and what they do not tell you
The spring used at the center is identified as Nagato City Misumi No. 5. A 2020 analysis records an alkaline simple spring, a source temperature of 36.1°C, pH 8.9 at the site and a flow rate of 53 litres per minute. These are measurements of the source, not the temperature of each pool.
The same source-specific record matters because “Yumen Onsen” refers to a wider area. Promotional descriptions of the hot-spring district should not be treated as an analysis of every facility in it. The center’s spring analysis lists radon below 5.5 × 10⁻¹⁰ Ci/kg. If a particular mineral or radon figure is the reason for your visit, check the facility’s own spring record rather than borrowing a number from a neighbouring bath.
There was a temporary public-bath and outdoor-bath suspension in July 2023 after a routine test found Legionella bacteria in bath water. Nagato City reported that the source spring itself tested negative; after pipe cleaning, disinfection and follow-up tests, the public bath reopened first and the outdoor bath followed on August 2, 2023. The current tourism listing shows normal operation, so that historic notice should not be mistaken for a present closure.
Getting there without a car
The center is about eight minutes by taxi from JR Nagato-Misumi Station. Parking is free, with space for about 50 cars. Buses also serve the Yumen area, but do not build the day around an old timetable: check the current local schedule before leaving, especially if you need a connection back to the station.
By car, the center is roughly 40 minutes from Mine IC. Its position makes it a useful pause on a Nagato–Hagi drive rather than a destination that requires a long detour from the main route.
