Onsen no Mori in Yuda Onsen: Day-Use Baths, Sauna and Late Hours
Explore Onsen no Mori’s nine indoor baths, outdoor rock bath, sauna and midnight closing; check notices for the outdoor waterfall bath’s outage.
Checked: September 28, 2026
Onsen no Mori is a day-use bathhouse in Yuda Onsen, Yamaguchi City. The draw is variety under one roof: a rock outdoor bath, nine kinds of indoor bath, a sauna and a cold bath, with a lounge and dining area upstairs. It suits travellers who want to stay for more than a quick soak; the last admission is 11:30 pm.
Prices, towel and opening times
| Ticket | Price | Included |
|---|---|---|
| Adult / university student | ¥1,000 | Face towel |
| Junior or senior high student | ¥850 | Face towel |
| Elementary-school student | ¥500 | Face towel |
| Infant to preschool age | ¥300 | Face towel |
| Late-night entry after 10:30 pm, Monday–Thursday | ¥850 | Face towel |
| Bedrock sauna, two hours | ¥700 extra | Mineral water, clothes and towels; bathhouse admission is separate |
The facility is listed as open every day, 10 am to midnight, with last entry at 11:30 pm. The late-night ticket is restricted to Monday through Thursday and begins after 10:30 pm; it is not simply a cheaper ticket for any evening visit.
Prices include consumption and bathing taxes. A face towel comes with the standard ticket; an extra small towel costs ¥100 and an extra bath towel ¥200.
What is actually in the bathing area
The official bath guide lists a natural-rock outdoor bath and indoor options including jet baths, a reclining bath, a sitting bath, foot-pressure stones, a low-frequency bath, a sauna and a soft-water cold bath. The site describes Yuda’s hot spring as an alkaline simple spring. Its seven source wells are listed with a maximum source temperature of 72°C; that is not a measured temperature for every pool at this facility.
The outdoor waterfall bath is an exception to the equipment list: the operator announced that it stopped using the waterfall jets for hygiene reasons in September 2025. Don’t count it as currently available just because older photos or a general bath description show it.
There is also a separate super bedrock sauna. It costs ¥700 for two hours, and the bathhouse admission is still due on top. At ¥1,000 for an adult, a full visit with this add-on starts at ¥1,700. That is a better fit for someone planning to stay and rest than for a quick stop between trains.
Check the current notice before visiting
In March 2026, the operator reported an electrical leak in the women’s changing-area washing station and said some lights had been switched off while repairs were underway. The facility’s notice list still shows that item as current when checked on September 28, 2026. If you are visiting the women’s bath, check with the operator first if the darker washing area would be a concern.
The upstairs restaurant is a separate service, not part of the bath ticket. Its latest operator notice sets Thursdays as the restaurant’s weekly closing day from March 5, 2026; that closure does not appear to apply to the bathhouse itself, which is listed as open year-round. Restaurant hours and menus can change independently, so check the restaurant notice if you are planning your meal around the soak.
You can eat at the restaurant without bathing, but that does not grant access to the second-floor rest area. The admission-ticket machine takes cash; the operator lists card and PayPay payments for other services, so do not assume you can buy the bath ticket cashlessly. The facility has no family bath. Its rules also prohibit tattoos, including small marks and cover-up stickers, and children of elementary-school age or older may not bathe with an opposite-sex adult.
Getting there and when this bath fits
Onsen no Mori is at 4-7-17 Yuda Onsen, about a 10-minute walk from Yudaonsen Station according to the facility’s access information. The site lists 17 on-site parking spaces and a nearby multi-storey car park with 123 spaces. Its facility page says the multi-storey garage has a 2.1-metre height limit and cannot take campervans or minibuses.
The published water information calls Yuda’s spring an alkaline simple spring, but 72°C refers to the maximum among seven source wells, not a single source assigned to this bath. Pair the bath, steam room and a rest break if you want to make the ¥1,000 admission worthwhile; the separate two-hour bedrock-sauna package brings the adult total to ¥1,700.
Choose it for the broad indoor-bath lineup, sauna, bedrock sauna and late closing time. If you only want a straightforward outdoor soak, a smaller public bath elsewhere in Yamaguchi may cost less. There is no need to use the Iwate guide to Yuda Onsenkyo for directions: that is a different hot-spring area with the same romanized name.
