Bettei Itsuki in Yufuin: Private Onsen Rooms and an Autumn Garden

All 14 Bettei Itsuki rooms are detached and have a private hot-spring bath; styles vary. Treat autumn colour as a garden bonus, not a guaranteed room view.

Checked: September 27, 2026 Bettei Itsuki is a strong match if you want a private hot-spring bath attached to your own detached room. The autumn detail is more specific: the property has a garden footbath where seasonal leaves can be enjoyed, but it does not promise foliage from every room or tub. Pick the room for its bath and layout; let the garden add to the season.

Every room is detached, but the baths are not all the same

The inn has 14 rooms in 13 detached buildings, and every room includes a private hot-spring bath. The room names matter because the bathing style changes: some have an indoor bath, some a semi-open-air tub, and others an outdoor bath. The official room pages describe hot-spring water but do not establish that every bath is source-flowing or available around the clock, so check the exact room details before booking around those assumptions.

For example, Karin has an indoor bath and a semi-open-air bath, with a view toward Mount Yufu. Mokuren combines an indoor tub with a private stone outdoor bath. These are different ways to use the room, not a simple good/better ranking. If you want an outdoor soak, make sure the room listing says so; “private onsen” alone does not tell you whether the tub is inside, semi-open or fully outdoors.

A practical autumn stay, without guessing the peak week

The inn’s garden footbath is the confirmed seasonal feature. Its garden changes through the year, and autumn leaves can be enjoyed around the footbath. That does not mean each detached room has a maple view, or that a particular November date will be at peak colour. Foliage timing shifts with the year; use the garden as a pleasant stop between private soaks, not as the only reason to choose a room.

Access is straightforward without a car: the inn offers complimentary taxi transfers from Yufuin Station or the bus centre. Ask a taxi driver for the transfer on arrival, and ask the front desk when checking out. Check-in is 3 p.m. and checkout is 11 a.m. Day bathing is not offered.

Check stairs and child rules against the room name

Room layouts can change the stay more than the headline bath type. Anzu, for example, has interior steps and places the bedroom and living room downstairs. If stairs are a concern, ask the property about the exact building and route rather than relying on a general accessibility label. Child eligibility can also vary by room and occupancy, so confirm the age and number of children before paying.

Allergy requests need at least five days’ notice according to the official FAQ. If anyone in your party has a serious allergy, contact the inn before booking to confirm what can be accommodated.
