Day-Use Onsen in Harazuru: Enmeikan, Taisenkaku or Toyotomi?
Compare Enmeikan, Taisenkaku and Toyotomi by day-use price, hours and private baths. Taisenkaku can close at short notice; Toyotomi takes no advance bookings.
Checked: September 27, 2026 Harazuru’s day-use inns suit three different visits. Enmeikan is the one to choose for a leisurely soak in 39°C water and a riverside outdoor bath with a roof. Taisenkaku has the most varied public bathing area, but day-use admission can be stopped at short notice and its private baths are uncovered. Ryokan Toyotomi has the lowest public-bath price and three private-bath styles, though those rooms cannot be booked ahead.
All three offer natural hot-spring water. Their prices and private-bath arrangements are not directly interchangeable, so decide first whether you want a public bath, a private room or an outdoor bath regardless of weather.
| Inn | Adult public bath | Day-use hours | Private bathing |
|---|---|---|---|
| Enmeikan | ¥850 weekdays; ¥950 weekends and holiday eves | Reception 9:30 a.m.–8 p.m.; last entry 7 p.m. | Two indoor family baths, 60 or 90 minutes; ask how admission is charged |
| Taisenkaku | ¥1,000 | Monday–Tuesday 2–8 p.m.; Wednesday–Sunday 11 a.m.–8 p.m. | Two bookable outdoor baths, 50 minutes for ¥2,000; admission is extra |
| Ryokan Toyotomi | ¥700 | Noon–7 p.m.; reception ends at 6 p.m. | Three baths, 50 minutes; ¥2,000 or ¥2,500 for two; no advance booking |
These are posted schedules, not guaranteed admission. Enmeikan may stop accepting visitors when busy, and Taisenkaku asks day visitors to call on the day because reception is irregular and can close at short notice. Check the bath’s current availability before travelling.
Enmeikan: the easiest place to take your time
Enmeikan’s main attraction is its 39°C source-fed “bubble bath.” The inn says its large public bath is supplied without dilution or reheating, which makes this the most straightforward option if you prefer a cooler soak over a high-temperature bath. Its outdoor bath looks toward the Chikugo River and has a roof, so light rain need not end the visit.

|---|---|
| Adult admission | ¥850 weekdays; ¥950 weekends and holiday eves |
| Child admission | ¥500 weekdays; ¥700 weekends and holiday eves |
| Reception | 9:30 a.m.–8 p.m.; last entry 7 p.m. |
| Payment and availability | Cash only; busy periods may bring an early cutoff; holiday surcharges may apply |
Two indoor family baths are available in ceramic and earthen styles. Day visitors may use them before 3 p.m. when a room is free.
| Session | Weekday | Weekend or holiday eve |
|---|---|---|
| 60 minutes | ¥2,800 | ¥3,200 |
| 90 minutes | ¥3,500 | ¥3,900 |
The published information does not make the final combined charge clear, so ask whether public-bath admission is added to the room fee.
Taisenkaku: more pools, but less certainty
Taisenkaku’s Jungle Bath has six pools and a sauna, including a children’s slide. Another bathing area combines the indoor Chitose bath with the semi-open Kappa bath. The two public-bath areas alternate between men and women each day, so check the day’s arrangement if one side matters to you.
| Taisenkaku day use | Published terms |
|---|---|
| Adult admission | ¥1,000, including a face towel |
| Child admission | ¥500 for ages 3 through elementary school |
| Bath towel | ¥150 extra |
| Reception | Monday–Tuesday, 2–8 p.m.; Wednesday–Sunday, 11 a.m.–8 p.m. |
| Availability | No fixed weekly closing day; group bookings or crowds can stop day admission |
| Shuttle | Not provided to day-use bathers |
Taisenkaku has two bookable private outdoor baths, Keiryu-no-yu and Takimi-no-yu. Both are uncovered, and the inn may suspend them in bad weather.
| Private bath | Charge and booking |
|---|---|
| Keiryu-no-yu / Takimi-no-yu | ¥2,000 for 50 minutes; advance reservation required |
| Day visitors | Admission is charged separately per person; confirm the total when booking |
For a private bath on a rainy day, Enmeikan’s indoor rooms are the safer option.
Taisenkaku has several flights of stairs along the routes to its baths. It provides some support equipment, including handrails and shower chairs, but the inn is not fully step-free. Ask which bath is accessible for your party rather than assuming all facilities share the same route.
Toyotomi: low entry price, no advance booking for private baths
| Toyotomi public bath | Published terms |
|---|---|
| Admission | Adults ¥700; children aged 3 and older ¥400 |
| Day-use hours | Noon–7 p.m.; reception closes at 6 p.m. |
| Source data | 44.8°C; pH 7.9; 563 litres per minute |
The public and outdoor baths use the inn’s own spring.
Toyotomi has three private baths. Sessions are walk-in only: ask at the main building’s front desk and take whichever room is available. A particular style may not be free when you arrive.
| Private bath | Price for two | Session |
|---|---|---|
| Cave bath | ¥2,500 | 50 minutes |
| Hinoki bath | ¥2,000 | 50 minutes |
| Goemon-style bath | ¥2,000 | 50 minutes |
The private baths are in a separate building about 50 metres from the main inn. The outdoor path may be difficult in rain or cold weather, and it is not step-free; a handrail is fitted inside the cave bath.
Check access and tattoo rules before setting out
None of the three inns has a current, clearly published tattoo policy that settles every case. If tattoos are relevant to your visit, call the specific inn and ask about the public bath and any private room separately. A private-bath option should not be treated as an automatic exception.
Transport also deserves a check of its own. Taisenkaku says it does not pick up day-use bathers; any shuttle advertised for overnight guests should not be assumed to apply to a short bath visit. Confirm your route and the return connection before leaving, particularly if you are coming from Fukuoka without a car; our guide to Harazuru without a car lays out the last-mile and return options. For another onsen area along the Chikugo River, see the Chikugogawa day-use guide.
Which one should you choose?
- A cooler soak and a covered riverside bath: Enmeikan.
- More public pools or a reservable outdoor bath: Taisenkaku; call first to confirm admission and availability.
- The lowest entry price or a choice of walk-in private baths: Toyotomi; its private rooms cannot be reserved ahead.
- Step-free access: None of these listings confirms a step-free route throughout. Ask the inn about the exact path to the bath you plan to use.
