Kobe Morning Onsen: Uhara-no-Yu vs Kobe Minato Onsen Ren

Compare Uhara-no-Yu’s ¥850 morning ticket and 10 a.m. exit with Ren’s costlier 6–8 a.m. offer, open until midnight, but no early shuttle.

If you want a soak before breakfast or a morning sightseeing stop, these two Kobe baths start at the same time but are built around different visits. Uhara-no-Yu in Higashinada sells a short, inexpensive morning ticket. Ren, on the waterfront near Sannomiya, discounts its regular day-use admission for guests who arrive before 8 a.m., so you can stay through the day-use bathing hours. The best fit comes down to how long you plan to stay and how you will get there at that hour.

Uhara is the clear pick for a genuinely quick, low-cost soak

Uhara-no-Yu ticketWeekdaysWeekends and public holidaysEntry / exit
Morning bath¥850¥900Enter 6–9 a.m.; leave by 10 a.m.
Regular admission¥1,200¥1,300Use this for a longer visit, including the reclining area or a meal

The morning ticket suits a soak and sauna before breakfast. Arriving at 9 leaves only about an hour; the regular ticket makes more sense if you want to eat, use the reclining area or stay past 10.

The natural spring is pumped from 1,089 metres below ground. Uhara identifies its water as a sodium-chloride spring and names an outdoor pool as source-fed and free-flowing. The bathing area also has a high-temperature dry sauna and a lower-temperature steam sauna. Rock baths do not open until 9 a.m. and cost extra, so they are a poor match for the morning ticket’s 10 a.m. exit deadline.

Rail access is straightforward once trains are running: allow about eight minutes on foot from JR or Rokko Liner Sumiyoshi, or six from Hanshin or Rokko Liner Uozaki. Check the first-train time from your hotel; an early opening does not guarantee that the rail journey will get you there at 6. The facility has 100 parking spaces, with up to three hours free for bath-only visits. Its rules do not admit guests with tattoos.

Ren costs more, but the morning offer buys time

Ren’s first-floor day-use baths open at 6 a.m. The early-entry offer applies to guests arriving from 6 to 8 a.m.; the rates and tax breakdown are listed above. The discounted ticket does not include the usual one-drink service.

Unlike Uhara’s morning ticket, Ren’s offer page does not set a 10 a.m. departure deadline. You can use the ordinary day-use hours, which run until midnight, subject to any current facility notices. The regular visit includes towels, loungewear and bath amenities; optional facilities such as the pools and stone baths have separate charges. Day-use guests must be at least 12.

Ren’s free Sannomiya shuttle does not work for the morning discount: its first listed departure is 9:05 a.m., after the 6–8 a.m. offer ends. To use the discount, walk, take a taxi or use a local bus instead.

From Sannomiya, the facility is about a 20-minute walk. Port Loop and Shinki Bus stop at Shinko-cho, roughly a minute away. Drivers get up to seven hours of free parking with day-use admission.

Ren lists a separate New Year operating period from December 26 through January 5, 2026–27. The discounted admission during those dates is ¥3,080 including consumption tax, plus the bathing tax. Its day-use policy refuses guests with tattoos, with a narrow cover-seal exception described in the FAQs; contact Ren if that applies to you.
