Booking the Private Open-Air Bath at Hotel Aoshima Cinq Male

Book Hotel Aoshima Cinq Male’s outdoor private bath for a one-hour session; check the fixed start times, steps and weather before paying.

Checked: September 27, 2026

There are two very different ways to bathe at Hotel Aoshima Cinq Male. The regular admission takes you to the third-floor indoor public bath, which has an ocean-facing view but no open-air pool. The private open-air bath is in a separate building a one- to two-minute walk away. It needs its own reservation and payment.

Four daytime slots, no evening option

Day-use reservations are one hour long and start at 10:30 am, 11:45 am, 1 pm or 2:15 pm. The final session finishes at 3:15 pm; after that, the bath is for overnight guests. Calls are accepted from one week before the visit.

The room price is ¥2,500 on weekdays, ¥3,000 on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays, and ¥3,500 on designated peak dates. These are per booking, not per person. Peak dates can have shorter hours, so check the hotel’s current notice when choosing a date.

This timing suits a morning at Aoshima Shrine or a coastal walk followed by a bath, then lunch or a drive farther south. It does not work as a sunset soak or a late stop after dinner. If a preceding activity or bus connection might run late, choose the public bath instead; a missed private-bath slot cannot simply be shifted to later in the day.

Weather and access are part of the decision

The bath has no roof. Rain falls directly into it, and the hotel may suspend use around typhoons or when conditions make the route unsafe. There is no separate lounge, and the changing room has no air conditioning. In warm weather, mosquitoes may be around; in cooler months, the short walk from the main building can feel chilly.

About 15 steps lead to the annex entrance. Staff can help if someone needs assistance on the stairs, but the layout is not step-free. Travellers using a wheelchair, a cane or other mobility support should ask the hotel what help is practical before booking.

The private bath booking includes a changing room, hair dryer and toilet. No separate indoor rest room is listed, so plan for a short private soak rather than a family suite for a long stay.

What the public-bath ticket does—and does not—cover

The private-bath reservation is a separate product from admission to the third-floor public bath. Do not assume one booking includes both. The public bath is indoors, with a sauna and cold bath; it has no outdoor pool.

For the annex bath, the hotel classifies the water as a sodium bicarbonate-chloride spring, weakly alkaline and high-temperature at source. The listed source temperature is 44°C. The hotel says the water is heated, not diluted, and partly recirculated; 44°C refers to the source, not the temperature of the bathing pool.

The hotel’s bathing rules prohibit tattoos, including tattoo stickers, in its baths. A private reservation does not create an exception. The property also says children aged eight or older, or at least 120 cm tall, may not share a bath with someone of the opposite sex under prefectural rules.

Reaching the hotel

Cinq Male sits on the coast south of central Miyazaki. The hotel lists the drive from Miyazaki Airport and Miyazaki Interchange at roughly 20 minutes and has about 100 parking spaces. Its complimentary pickup from Aoshima Station or the bus stop is for overnight guests; day visitors should not build their plan around that shuttle.

The private-bath annex is separate from the hotel’s main building

For the public bath’s hours and facilities, see the Aoshima day-onsen overview. The Aoshima no-car route guide covers the station-side alternatives and shuttle limitations.
