Shinseiyu in Hatanodai: Two Bath Layouts That Switch Every Week
Shinseiyu’s two bath layouts switch weekly. Adult entry is ¥600; sauna access adds ¥400, and towels are not included. Check which side is open before going.
Shinseiyu makes more sense once you know its two bathing sides are not identical. One layout is the more active circuit, with a short walking pool and cave bath. The other has a garden-style outdoor bath and rotating medicinal bath. The sides switch weekly, so the calendar determines which one you get on a particular visit.
Choose your visit around the weekly rotation
The Sun Bath side is organized around movement: jet baths, an artificial carbonated bath, a cave bath and a circulating walking pool just under 10 metres around. It is for water walking, not lap swimming. The Earth Bath side is calmer, with a garden-like open-air bath, a medicinal bath that changes daily, and its own jet-bath arrangement.
Both sides have a remote-infrared comfort rock-salt sauna. It runs at roughly 85–90°C, with humidity maintained around 25–30%, and has a television. Neither side is a natural hot spring: the Tokyo Sento Association describes the supply as well water, and the cold pool uses groundwater drawn from about 20 metres below the site. The wooden rest deck is currently closed, so do not plan around older photos that show it in use.

Monday is the regular closing day, except when it is a public holiday. Shinseiyu is about five minutes on foot from either Hatanodai or Ebara-machi station, served by the Tokyu Ikegami and Oimachi lines. There are four first-come, first-served parking spaces beside the building.
The weekly bath assignment and occasional maintenance closures are posted by the facility. Check its current schedule if you are travelling specifically for the cave bath or the garden-side layout. For a simpler sento visit, the Tokyo sento first-visit guide explains the basic routine.
