Myohoyu in Shiinamachi: Soft-Water Baths, a Hot Sauna and a 1 a.m. Closing Time

Myohoyu near Shiinamachi Station stays open until 1 am, with soft-water baths, separate 110°C and 100°C saunas, and a tattoo-friendly policy.

Myohoyu is a useful late stop after dinner in Ikebukuro: Shiinamachi Station’s north exit is about two minutes away, and the bathhouse stays open until 1 a.m. The feature to look for is not a natural spring but its “soft-water carbonated silky bath,” which combines treated soft water, carbonation and fine bubbles in one tub.

The water is the main attraction

Myohoyu also has a microbubble bath, powerful jet seats and an electric bath. The main silky tub has a milky look from its fine bubbles, while the soft-water treatment gives the water a smooth feel. These are bathing features, not evidence of a natural hot spring; Myohoyu is a public bath rather than an onsen facility.

The dry sauna runs at a published 110°C on the men’s side and 100°C on the women’s side. Neither is listed as a löyly sauna. The soft-water cold bath is set around 16°C, with a deeper section of about one metre on the men’s side. There is no outdoor-air rest area; seating is indoors by the changing room.

What to budget—and what remains unclear

Tokyo’s regulated adult public-bath price rose to ¥600 on 1 August 2026.

Myohoyu’s official site still lists the former ¥550 adult admission and a ¥950 sauna package that includes bathing and rental towels; the exact current package total is not confirmed there.

Check the day’s price with the facility before relying on the old bundle. The bathhouse accepts cards, electronic money and QR payments, though the hair dryer takes coins.

Hours are 3 p.m. to 1 a.m.; Monday is the regular closing day. Tattooed guests are explicitly welcome under Myohoyu’s posted policy. The bathhouse also supports a running routine: pay admission, put your belongings in a locker, leave the locker key at reception and head out for a run. There is no dedicated car park.

Choose Myohoyu if a later closing time, soft-water baths or a tattoo-friendly policy matters more than outdoor seating. Goshikiyu is nearby and has an outdoor-air rest area; the Tokyo sento first-visit guide covers basic etiquette and what to bring.
