Koganeyu Shinjuku: Overnight Opening, Sauna Prices and What to Expect
Koganeyu Shinjuku stays open 12:30 p.m.–9:30 a.m., but it is a bathhouse, not lodging. Entry is ¥600; reserve sauna access, which costs more after 11 p.m.
Koganeyu’s Shinjuku branch now covers the hours when most sento are closed: from 12:30 p.m. through 9:30 the following morning. That makes it handy after a late event or before an early start, but the distinction matters: you can bathe through the night, not book a room or assume there is somewhere to sleep.
A late bath is affordable; a late sauna is a different budget
Adult bath admission is ¥600. It includes the regular baths, carbonated bath and changing facilities; the sauna is extra. Current sauna surcharges depend on time and whether it is a weekday or weekend/public holiday:

If you only need a shower and bath after a night out, skip the sauna surcharge.
Two sauna rooms, two distinct setups
The men’s sauna, THE ABYSS, uses lava-stone tiles for a cave-like room, dual automatic löyly and music. Its underground-water cold bath has fine bubbles, with outdoor-air seating nearby. THE COCOON on the women’s side is a rounded room with self-löyly and changing herb or aroma choices; the cold bath is listed at around 15–16°C. These descriptions belong to the Shinjuku branch, not the separate Koganeyu in Kinshicho.
The bathhouse also has a carbonated bath and rotating medicinal baths. Its water is not presented as a natural hot spring. Sauna side-exchange arrangements can change by date, so check the current calendar if you are going for a particular room.
Overnight hours do not mean overnight lodging
Since 26 August 2026, the published schedule is 12:30 p.m.–9:30 a.m. the next day, with the first and third Tuesday of the month as regular closing days. Higashi-Shinjuku Station is about a five-minute walk. The bathhouse has no guest rooms or advertised sleeping plan, so arrange a nearby hotel if you need proper rest. Avoid using the sauna after drinking; the reservation guidance warns against alcohol before sauna use.
