Yufuin Private Baths for a Day Trip: Six Options, From One Hour to Half a Day
Compare six Yufuin day-use private baths by booking, session length and price, from one-hour rooms to cottage stays.

Musouen may include a family bath with ordinary admission, but there is no reservation or time slot. Tsukanoma is a different proposition altogether: a detached room and bath from late morning to evening.

Nurukawa is near Lake Kinrinko and publishes separate rates for its indoor and outdoor family baths. Additional guests are charged separately.

Yasuha has two private outdoor choices: a mountain-side room for up to two people and a riverside room for up to four. Both sessions last 50 minutes; the published extension is ¥500 per 15 minutes. Its day-use page links to online booking, while the FAQ still describes same-day, first-come reception.
Check the live booking options or contact the inn before planning around a specific slot. The gender-separated small baths are indoors, so choose a private bath if an outdoor setting is essential.
Tsukahara’s listed room rate is ¥2,000 for 60 minutes, covering two adults and up to two children aged one or older; extra adults and children are charged separately. Four rooms are assigned in arrival order, and the inn does not take phone reservations.
The public outdoor bath is a separate product; the family room is not listed as an outdoor bath. The spring is strongly acidic, around pH 1.5, and official guidance says not to use soap or shampoo in the water. Tsukahara is about a 20-minute drive from central Yufuin, so include transport in the cost.
Musouen can work well when you can be flexible
Day visitors pay ¥1,000 per adult. Reception runs 10 a.m.–2 p.m.; bathing ends at 2:30 p.m. Family baths are included, but they cannot be reserved. Go to the entrance and use one only if it is vacant. The family indoor baths are unavailable on Mondays, and the family outdoor bath is unavailable on Tuesdays. Other public baths also have weekday cleaning schedules, and weather or maintenance can change availability.
This is a good-value choice if a shared public bath is already worthwhile and the private bath would be a bonus. It is a poor fit for a tight schedule that depends on a guaranteed private soak.
Yufudake Onsen is easier to budget for as a public bath
The tourism association lists indoor and outdoor public baths and family-bath rooms. It does not publish the family-bath rate.

Tsukanoma is for an afternoon with a room of your own
Tsukanoma’s day-use plan rents a detached room with a bath from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., starting at ¥8,800 per person. One-person stays are accepted, and the day-room plan also includes access to the large outdoor bath. Extension costs ¥1,100 per person per hour. Bath and face towels plus a rental yukata are included; bedding and an amenity set are extra. Room type depends on party size and availability, and cooking appliances are not allowed.
