Honoka-no-yu Kaeda: Private Indoor and Open-Air Baths by the Hour

Book one of 14 private rooms at Honoka-no-yu Kaeda, with indoor and open-air spring baths; standard 55-minute rates start at ¥2,500.

Checked: September 27, 2026

Kaeda is the branch to choose when the private room is the point of the outing. There is no shared public bath: guests book a room for their own group, with an indoor bath, an outdoor bath, a washing area and a changing/rest space. The setting is green and quiet, but the nearest practical approach is by car or taxi from the Miyazaki–Aoshima side.

Pick a room around the space you need

The three room categories differ mainly in layout. Standard is the lowest-priced way to get the private indoor-and-outdoor setup. Semi Premium adds a reclining-style outdoor bath. Premium also has two baths, with a wider washing area and changing/rest room plus a massage chair. The room category does not change the spring source.

Room55 minutes85 minutes115 minutes
Standard¥2,500¥3,750¥5,000
Semi Premium¥3,000¥4,500¥6,000
Premium¥3,500¥5,250¥7,000

Prices are per room, not per person. Each room takes up to five guests; from the sixth guest, the facility adds ¥500 per person. The key must be returned five minutes before the booked time ends, so a 55-minute slot gives you about 50 minutes in the room. Families with young children, anyone who needs help changing, or visitors who prefer to wash and rest without rushing may find 85 minutes easier to use.

From October 1, 2026, Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays add ¥1,100 to the usual Honoka-no-yu rates. The currently posted Kaeda table still displays ordinary and high-season prices separately; check the live booking total for your date rather than calculating a possibly overlapping weekend and high-season surcharge yourself. The published September high-season window ends September 27.

The spring and the practical details

The operator identifies the water as Sozenji Onsen, a sulfur spring, and says all 14 private rooms use source-flow water. The indoor bath is cedar-scented; outdoor options include Shigaraki-style ceramic tubs. Current source temperature, pH and flow rate are unconfirmed; older third-party figures are not current test results.

Weekday hours are 10 a.m.–11 p.m.; on weekends and public holidays the doors open at 9 a.m. Last admission is 10 p.m. There are 19 parking spaces. A towel set costs ¥500, and shampoo sets are also sold. Reservations are given priority, though the operator cautions that a room may still be delayed on the day.

Miyazaki City Tourism lists Kaeda’s private baths as an option for tattooed visitors. Tattoo-size and cover rules are unconfirmed; ask the branch before visiting if either affects you. For a room near the airport, compare the Miyazaki Airport branch; the Kaeda versus airport guide covers which location fits each itinerary.
