Konohana-no-Yu or Honoka-no-Yu Kaeda? Compare the Bathing Style First

Compare Konohana-no-Yu’s 32.7°C source-water bath and public facilities with Honoka-no-Yu Kaeda’s private rooms, timed sessions and per-room pricing.

These two Kaeda-area baths can fit into the same outing, but the prices cover different things. Konohana-no-Yu is a low-cost public bath with a 32.7°C source-water pool, a heated source-fed bath, a walking pool and saunas. Honoka-no-Yu Kaeda has 14 private rooms, each with an indoor and an open-air bath, and no shared public bath. Its room fee should be compared with the cost of a private visit, not a single ¥500 public-bath ticket.

What the basic price actually buys

Konohana-no-Yu charges ¥500 per adult and ¥400 for visitors through junior-high age. Admission includes the shared bathing areas and a large rest room. Its main draw is a source-water bath at about 32.7°C; another large bath uses the same spring after heating. There is also a one-metre-deep walking bath.

The city and operator pages differ on which gender’s bath has the wet sauna and which has the dry sauna. Confirm the current arrangement if one sauna type is the reason for your visit.

Honoka charges by room and session. A Standard room starts at ¥2,500 for 55 minutes under ordinary pricing and holds up to five people before an extra per-person charge applies. Each room has indoor and open-air baths, a washing area and changing space. Sharing the room can suit a couple or family; for a solo visitor, the per-room charge is a less direct comparison with public-bath admission.

The final five minutes are used to return the room key, so a 55-minute booking is not 55 minutes of bathing. Families with small children or anyone who needs time to wash and change may prefer a longer session. Current Standard, Semi-Premium and Premium prices vary by duration and seasonal surcharge; check the Kaeda branch’s current fee table before booking.

The spring itself or a private room?

Konohana is the clearer choice if water details are part of the reason for going. Its source rises from about 750 metres underground, and the facility describes the 32.7°C bath as undiluted source water. The larger bath is heated, so “source-fed” does not mean every pool stays at source temperature. The operator’s published analysis lists a source temperature of 32.5°C, pH 8.2 and a flow of 221.6 litres per minute.

At Honoka, the difference is privacy rather than a uniquely low-temperature pool or a shared sauna. Couples can bathe together; parents can help a child without splitting into separate men’s and women’s baths; and guests who are uncomfortable with communal nude bathing have a fully private room. The tourist information listing mentions it as an option for tattooed visitors, but the branch’s public pages do not spell out every tattoo condition. Ask when reserving rather than assuming every tattoo is accepted.

Opening hours and getting there

Konohana-no-Yu is generally open 10 a.m.–9 p.m., with last admission at 8:30 p.m. It closes Tuesdays, or the following day when Tuesday is a public holiday.

Honoka Kaeda lists 10 a.m.–11 p.m. on weekdays and 9 a.m.–11 p.m. on weekends and public holidays, with last entry at 10 p.m. Hours and special pricing can change, so check the date-specific notice.

Both are in the Kaeda area on the Miyazaki–Aoshima side, not beside Miyazaki Station. Konohana has a large car park and Honoka lists 19 spaces. Without a car, treat either as a stop that needs a confirmed bus, taxi or planned transfer; being inside Miyazaki City does not make either a short walk from the station. For other bathing styles around the coast, compare the Aoshima day-use onsen guide or the Miyazaki City day-onsen guide.

Konohana is the straightforward pick for a solo soak, a low bill or the cool source-water pool. Honoka is worth the higher room charge when bathing together or private space is essential. For the facility-specific details, see the Konohana source-water guide and Honoka Kaeda private-bath guide.
