Kamigata Onsen Ikkyu Near Universal Studios Japan: Hours, Shuttle and Bathing Rules

Near Universal Studios Japan, Ikkyu offers a shuttle. Check its hours and bathing rules before arranging a post-park visit.

Kamigata Onsen Ikkyu is not a walk-out-of-the-park stop. It is in Torishima, about ten minutes from Universal City by car, and the final leg from the nearest rail stations takes either a bus or the facility’s shuttle. The trade-off is a full bathing complex: indoor and outdoor natural-spring pools, sauna, rest areas and a restaurant.

The operator lists bathing hours of 10:00–24:00, with last entry at 23:00. The regular closure is the third Tuesday of the month. Its September 2026 notice names October 20 as the next closure, so do not assume it is open that Tuesday just because older pages still show the normal schedule.

Shuttles make it possible without a car—but the return matters

Ikkyu’s shuttle serves Nishikujo, Chidoribashi and Kasugaide, with separate evening services toward the Universal City hotel area. The published timetable includes a final departure from the bathhouse at 23:40 toward Nishikujo and 23:05 toward Universal City. The operator warns that timetables may change, services can be delayed or cancelled, and a bus may depart once full.

If you plan to go after USJ, check the current timetable before entering the park, not when the gates close. Evening shuttles from the Universal City hotel area to Ikkyu are listed around 19:25, 20:40 and 21:55; the return toward Universal City is listed at 23:05. Nishikujo-bound service runs later, with a final departure at 23:40.

Seats are limited and the vehicle may leave once full; traffic or road conditions can delay or cancel service. Route 59 serves the Torishima 5-chome stop, about a two-minute walk away. Drivers have about 150 free parking spaces.

Admission and the two bathing zones

These are general entry rates; restaurant and relaxation services cost extra. The JAF app promotion requires membership and the coupon, so it is not a walk-up price.

The two zones are called Ki no Yu and Ishi no Yu. They alternate between men and women on odd and even calendar dates, so check the posted assignment if one particular side is the reason for going. The operator says its baths use natural spring water without adding water. The facility was renovated and reopened on April 18, 2026.

The current operator identifies its spring as Keisen Narumi no Yu, a simple, weakly alkaline spring at 50.3°C. It says the water is not diluted, overflow is not returned to the baths, and a heat exchanger cools the hot source without adding water.

A newer copy of an on-site analysis has been reported elsewhere with different figures, including 49.8°C, pH 8.0 and 500 litres per minute; those figures are not substituted for the current published values. If the notice changes, use the latest analysis posted at the facility.

The two sides have distinct layouts. On odd-numbered dates, women use Ki no Yu and men use Ishi no Yu; the assignment reverses on even-numbered dates. Ki no Yu has a wooden outdoor bath, indoor baths, an electric bath, a sitting bath and an auto-loyly sauna.

Ishi no Yu uses stonework and includes a rock bath, red-kettle bath, ceramic pot baths and a carved-stone bath, alongside its auto-loyly sauna. Both sides have carbonated baths, but that carbon dioxide is an added feature; the natural spring source does not make either one a natural carbon-dioxide spring.

Renovation closed the facility from February 1 to April 17, 2026; it reopened the following day. Current listings include high- and low-temperature baths as well as a high-concentration carbonated bath. Check which side is assigned on your date if a particular outdoor bath or sauna is your reason for visiting.

Allow enough time to use the facilities. About an hour can cover a quick wash and one or two baths; around 90 minutes gives room for a sauna-cold-bath cycle; closer to two hours is more comfortable if you want several pools and a rest. Those are itinerary estimates, not entry limits. Last admission is 23:00, so an arrival just before then will leave little time to use what makes Ikkyu distinctive.

Ikkyu does not admit guests with tattoos, including tattoo stickers or paint. It also has no private family bath. If you need a shared private room or a tattoo-cover option, choose another venue rather than counting on a shuttle ride back as a fix.

The general-use rules also matter after you enter: one bathing admission does not ordinarily allow you to leave and re-enter. Exceptions require a designated in-house service or clothing arrangement; do not assume a meal break gives you a second entry. The facility has no reservable family bath, so couples and families who need to bathe together should look elsewhere. Near the park, Hinata no Yu Osaka Universal Bayside is another option to compare; the Ikkyu vs. Hinata guide focuses on the post-USJ choice.
