Oshuku Onsen Day Trip: Four Baths with Different Schedules

Compare Oshuku Onsen’s day-use baths, including Kawacho, Kagasuke, Hotel Uguisu and the new Yutorelo Shizukuishi, with practical bus advice.

Oshuku Onsen makes a good half-day soak from Morioka or Shizukuishi, but the right bath depends on your timing. Kawacho is a small inn with three source-fed baths; Kagasuke has a sixth-floor bathing floor and a short day-use window; Hotel Uguisu is the budget pick. From October 8, 2026, Yutorelo Shizukuishi adds a larger spa, sauna and stone-bath option. The main planning snag is transport: the local shared bus must be booked, and the regular route’s timetable is not frequent enough to leave the return until after your bath.

Four different day-use visits

PlaceAdult day-use priceCurrent bathing windowBest reason to choose it
KawachoBudget around ¥800 (about HK$40 / NT$163); confirm before travel11:00–18:00, last entry 17:00; normally closed Monday and TuesdayThree 100% source-fed baths at a small inn
Kagasuke¥1,000 (about HK$50 / NT$204)11:00–14:00, last entry 13:00Sixth-floor baths, with a sauna in one of the alternating bathing areas
Hotel Uguisu¥500 (about HK$25 / NT$102)Confirm by phone; the current property page does not give a dependable day-use scheduleLowest listed admission and a garden-side outdoor bath
Yutorelo Shizukuishi¥1,000 (about HK$50 / NT$204) for the bath during its opening offer13:00–20:00, last entry 19:00Sauna, optional stone bath and dog-friendly facilities from October 8

Kawacho’s own pages disagree on the current rate; the comparison table uses its 2026 campaign price as a planning estimate. Hotel Uguisu confirms adult day-use admission but does not publish a firm walk-in schedule, so call before setting out.

Kawacho has an open-air bath and two indoor baths, all described by the inn as 100% source-fed. It is the easiest of the traditional properties to make the main event of an afternoon: the last entry is 17:00, with bathing available until 18:00. Its regular weekly closure is Monday and Tuesday, with additional holiday and maintenance closures. The monthly calendar matters more than the general opening-hours line.

Kagasuke’s appeal is a different one. Its two sixth-floor bathing areas alternate between men and women each day; only the marble bath has a sauna. A visit between 11:00 and 14:00 is a tight window, especially if you are arriving by a booked shared bus. Call ahead if the sauna is the reason for choosing it, since the gender assignment determines who can use that side on your date.

Hotel Uguisu works when price leads the decision. The local tourism association lists a garden outdoor bath and day-use bathing, while the inn’s own page gives the current adult admission. Opening hours are less clear than at Kawacho or Kagasuke, so a short phone call is part of the plan. If you need reliable late-afternoon access, choose a facility that publishes a current reception cutoff.

A new day-use option opens on October 8

Yutorelo Shizukuishi is due to reopen under its new name on October 8, 2026, in the former Akai Fusha property. Its opening offer runs through December 23, 2026.

Opening-period planPriceLast entryIncludes
Bath and sauna¥1,000 (about HK$50 / NT$204)7 p.m.Bath and sauna
Bath plus “Mori no Onnetsu” stone-bath area¥2,000 (about HK$101 / NT$409)6:30 p.m.Bath, stone-bath area, bathing outfit and towel

The stone-bath area is not open to children under 13.

During the same offer, bath or stone-bath customers can use the dog run without its usual per-dog charge. The operator also advertises indoor and outdoor dog runs and a dog-sitting service, but says details and conditions are being released in stages. Confirm the dog-care arrangement before building a visit around it. These are opening-period terms, not a promise of the price after December 23.

Getting to Oshuku without a car

The property says the direct bus from Morioka Station takes about 50 minutes; driving from Morioka IC takes around 25 minutes. The bus is the simplest no-car option if its timetable fits the spa’s opening hours.

For the older inns, Shizukuishi Town’s Annekko Bus is a book-ahead shared service, not a turn-up-and-go shuttle. A ride costs ¥200 (about HK$10 / NT$41). Visitors can book by phone; LINE booking is limited to residents. The town requires advance reservations: book the first service by the previous day and other rides generally at least an hour ahead. Check that your stop is served and reserve the return before setting out.

If a no-car day starts to feel over-engineered, compare Oshuku with Morioka Tsunagi Onsen or the public-transport options at Amihari Onsen. For a quieter mountain visit, Takinoue Onsen is a separate, much less transit-friendly choice.

Pick for your actual day, not the cheapest headline

For a long bathing window, Kawacho is the practical traditional pick, as long as the monthly calendar confirms it is open. Kagasuke suits an early visit with a specific interest in its view or sauna. Hotel Uguisu is the lowest-cost option, but only after confirming it will admit day visitors at your arrival time. From October 8, Yutorelo is the better fit for a conventional spa visit, particularly if the sauna, stone bath or dog facilities matter more than a small-inn atmosphere.

Oshuku has more than one bathing property, but that does not make it an easy bath-hopping street. Leave time for the transfer between inns and lock in transport first. If you have a full day in the area, the Hanamaki Minami Onsenkyo day-bath guide compares another string of hot-spring stops; Matsukawa Onsen and Kunimi Onsen are useful alternatives for a mountain-focused trip. For an overnight around the region, see Hanamaki’s stay areas, Hanamaki’s other day-use baths and the Toshichi Onsen day-trip guide.
