The day ticket explicitly covers the panoramic public bath using Hagi Shizuki spring water. It has a large window toward Kikugahama and the Sea of Japan, with a reclining jet bath, waterfall shower, body shower, bubble bath and sauna. The hotel also shows two dramatic outdoor baths on its accommodation pages, but its day-use listing does not promise that both are included for walk-in visitors. Ask first if an outdoor pool is the reason for the trip.

There are several exceptions: the hotel says day-use bathing may not be available during summer peak periods, Saturdays, consecutive holidays, Golden Week, Obon and year-end/New Year. Its notices also record temporary closures for equipment trouble in 2026, followed by reopening. Check the latest notice for your date instead of assuming the standard hours apply.

The hotel’s notice says people who have been swimming at the beach should not use the day bath. This is a hotel bath stop, not a rinse-off facility after a swim. The same notice explicitly bars guests with tattoos.

An equipment fault in the hot-spring circulation system stopped day use in January 2026; the hotel announced repairs and reopened on January 31. Check its latest notice for any new disruption.

Fit the bath into a walk by the coast

Mihagi is at Horiuchi 485, beside the Kikugahama side of Hagi. It can suit a late-afternoon stop after a walk around the beach or nearby historic area, provided the bath is accepting day visitors that day. The hotel lists free parking for around 50 cars. If arriving on foot, check the map and the distance from your actual sightseeing stop; “near the beach” does not make every old-town site a short walk.

The hotel also advertises a reserved private bath for 45 minutes at ¥4,400, available between 15:00 and 21:00 (last reception 18:00). Advance reservation is recommended. Its public page does not clearly state whether non-guests can book this separately, so confirm before planning around it.

The source guide’s editorial ratings are comfort 85/100, variety 85, cleanliness 85, view 95, quietness 70, access 80 and value 80. These are comparative impressions, not official scores. The high view score reflects the coast-facing public bath; the access score assumes you have solved the last leg from Higashi-Hagi Station.

The hotel does not list a regular free shuttle for day visitors from Higashi-Hagi Station. From Shin-Yamaguchi, the direct bus takes about 1 hour 10 minutes; ordinary buses take closer to 1 hour 30 minutes. If using rail or bus, plan your local transfer and return before choosing the bath time. The roughly 50 free parking spaces make the stop much simpler by car, especially after visiting Hagi Castle, Kikugahama or Shizuki Park.
