Hotel Aoshima Cinq Male Day-Use Onsen: The Ocean View Is Indoors
Cinq Male’s public bath overlooks the Pacific from indoors; check ¥800 weekday entry and reserve the separate open-air bath.
Checked: September 27, 2026
Cinq Male sits on the Nichinan Coast, where the third-floor bath faces the Pacific and the wave-cut rocks known as the Devil’s Washboard. The view is the reason to come. The public bath is an indoor pool with broad windows, not an open-air bath; the outdoor option is a separately booked private bath in an annex outside the main building.
Day-use admission and opening hours
| Adult admission | Price |
|---|---|
| Weekday | ¥800 |
| Saturday, Sunday and public holiday | ¥1,000 |
| Designated peak date | ¥1,100 |
| Children aged three and older, ordinary weekday/weekend | ¥500 |
| Children aged three and older, designated peak date | ¥600 |
The public bath is open to day visitors from 10:30 a.m. to 9 p.m., with last entry at 8 p.m. Designated peak dates can also bring shorter hours, so check the hotel’s notices before setting out. Shampoo, conditioner, body wash and face wash are supplied; towel rental costs extra. The changing room has no keyed lockers, though paid ¥100 lockers sit outside the bath entrance and the coin is not returned.
The spring is a sodium bicarbonate–chloride hot spring. Its source is naturally flowing at 44°C, but the bath is heated and partly recirculated without dilution. The source temperature is not the pool temperature, and the system is not source-flow. The water handling matters if you are comparing facilities by spring quality rather than by the view.
The sauna was updated to an automatic löyly system in January 2026. The public ticket includes it, along with the cold bath and jet bath. This makes the weekday ticket an affordable coastal sauna stop, provided you can reach the hotel without relying on a guest-only shuttle.
Getting to the headland
The headland setting comes with a transport trade-off:
| Access detail | Published information |
|---|---|
| From Aoshima Station or nearby bus stop | About a 7-minute drive |
| Parking | Around 100 free spaces |
| Hotel pickup | For overnight guests only; day visitors need a taxi or car |
| Airport–Aoshima public shuttle | Trial service through September 30, 2026; it stops in the area but does not replace the guest-only hotel pickup |
The separate open-air bath is an annex, about a one- to two-minute walk from the main building. It is a private, reserved product rather than an outdoor extension of the public bath:
| Day | 60-minute private bath | Fixed start times |
|---|---|---|
| Weekday | ¥2,500 | 10:30, 11:45, 1:00 and 2:15 p.m. |
| Weekend or holiday | ¥3,000 | 10:30, 11:45, 1:00 and 2:15 p.m. |
| Designated peak date | ¥3,500 | Check the date-specific notice |
Telephone booking opens one week before the visit. Around the current maintenance closure, the schedule is unusual:
| Date | Day-use impact |
|---|---|
| September 30, 2026 | Hotel closed |
| October 1, 2026 | Reopens at 3 p.m., just before the normal final private-bath slot ends; confirm whether any day-use booking is accepted |
Check the notice again around other maintenance dates.
Tattoos and tattoo stickers are not accepted, including in the private bath. Children aged eight or older, or at least 120 cm tall, may not share a bath with an adult of the opposite sex. If you are driving, the bath works well after a walk around Aoshima or the coast; with a reserved private-room slot, build the outing around that appointment. Without a car, Shinwa-no-yu by Aoshima Station is the easier walk-in. The private-bath comparison sets out booking and access trade-offs against Shinwa-no-yu.
For the outdoor bath’s booking window, stairs, weather exposure and changing-room limits, see the separate Cinq Male private open-air bath guide. If the decision is between that bath and Myth no Yu’s station-side private rooms, use the Aoshima private-bath comparison.
