Haginoyu in Uguisudani: Morning Bath Hours, Sauna Fees and the Tattoo Rule

Three minutes from Uguisudani Station, Haginoyu has an outdoor bath and separate sauna options. Morning bathing ends at 9 a.m.; tattoos are not permitted.

Haginoyu is a handy stop if you are staying around Ueno, Nippori or Uguisudani and want more than a quick hotel shower. There are several baths, an outdoor rock bath and separate sauna options on the men’s and women’s sides. It is not a documented natural hot spring, so choose it for the facilities and location rather than the water’s mineral content.

Don’t arrive in the two-hour gap

JR Uguisudani Station’s north exit is about a three-minute walk. The bathhouse has bicycle and motorcycle parking but no car park. It can work before a day out or after dinner; it is not a place to leave large suitcases, so sort those out at your hotel or station first.

What ¥600 gets you

ItemPrice
Adult admission¥600
Sauna, weekday¥350
Sauna, weekend / public holiday¥450
Sauna, designated date¥600
Towel set (bath towel, small towel, nylon washcloth)¥100

Shampoo, body wash and hair dryers are available without an extra charge.

The standard bath ticket already covers the main baths, including the carbonated bath, outdoor rock bath and electric bath. On the men’s side, facilities include a hotter bath and a larger cold bath; the women’s side has a salt sauna and a softer-temperature cold bath. The arrangement is not identical across the two sides, so check what matters to you rather than relying on a generic “sauna included” description.

A public bath, not a natural onsen

Haginoyu is a sento, not a documented natural-spring bath: the facility lists no spring source or onsen analysis. If verified spring water is your priority, choose a bath with published source details. The carbonated and herb baths offer a different kind of visit.

The Tokyo Sento Association’s English visitor guide lists tattoos as not permitted at Haginoyu. If this rule affects your plans, check the facility’s current policy before setting out. For bathhouses in the area where natural spring water is a priority, the Tokyo public-bath comparison includes a documented spring-water option.
