Mitsumine no Yu: A Simple, Low-Cost Onsen in Minakami

Mitsumine no Yu is a small municipal bath in the Tsukiyono area of Minakami. The town revised admission on July 1, 2026. Visitors from outside town pay ¥600 for adults and ¥300 for children aged three to eleven; each ticket covers up to two hours. The bath is simple, with the spring water as its main draw.
This is a good stop if you are driving, bring your own towels and toiletries, and want a straightforward soak. It is a poor fit if you expect a spacious changing area, multiple wash stations, a sauna or a lounge where you can spend half a day.

The bath has previously closed temporarily for maintenance and hygiene work; check the town’s notices before a long drive.
The visitor information says all baths are supplied as source-flow baths. That describes the water’s route through the pools; it does not mean that no hygiene treatment is used. After a Legionella-related closure, the operator said that chlorine-based chemicals would be used as part of its revised hygiene management when it reopened in June 2025. Source-flow and disinfection are separate questions.
Bring what you need—and expect to wait at the taps
The local tourism association says each side of the bathing area has only two showers and three faucets. That is unusually limited for anyone planning to wash thoroughly before and after bathing, especially when the facility is busy. Bring a towel and your own bathing supplies; do not count on a hotel-spa setup with many shower stations, attendants or a large rest area.

Getting there
The bath is at 2265 Gokan, Minakami, and the operator’s current information does not list a regular shuttle or a simple station-to-door walking route. A car is the most practical way to include it. Without one, check a taxi or local transport plan before setting out; do not assume that being in Minakami means this bath is close to a railway station.

The current tourism listing confirms the spring classification as a natural hot spring and describes every bath as source-flow. No clear tattoo rule is published; contact the facility before going if you need certainty.
